The appTap is the industry´s first integrated solution to combine network tapping capabilities with network and application monitoring.
Welcome to the innovative appTap™ - the industry’s first integrated solution to combine network tapping capabilities with network and application monitoring. This new approach fulfills a need that until now had gone unmet - the challenge of affordably monitoring remote sites with Internet broadband connections up to 100Mb. Now, without investing in costly on-site engineers, you can capture and analyze network traffic and application activity, plus monitor VoIP calls. You can also carry out capacity planning and trend analysis to improve business continuity.
Cost-Effective, Simplified Access
Geographically distributed offices need to monitor network and application integrity just as do larger centralized offices, but until now, this has mandated hiring on-site engineers to make sure of sustained functionality. Now, appTap makes that investment unnecessary. Designed specifically for satellite office needs, appTap enables easy access to network traffic data at line rate to monitor and manage network, application, and session performance.
Simple to Install and Use
For network professionals tasked with monitoring and ensuring remote network availability and application performance, the plug-and-play appTap makes life instantly easier. If you’re dealing with slow or underperforming applications or issues such as link errors, oversubscribed resources, misconfigured DNS or proxy servers, and choppy VOIP connections, appTap streamlines diagnosis and resolution.
Network, Application and Session Monitoring Options
Flexibility is one of appTap’s major advantages. Offices can tailor appTap’s functions precisely to their monitoring needs.
- Network Monitoring captures network traffic and generates NetFlow records that can be exported to third-party flow analysis and visualization solutions.
- Application Monitoring adds flow monitoring and a deeper level of analysis and reporting, breaking down network use by layer, protocol and application.
- Session Monitoring encompasses VOIP support and call detail, web access analysis and instant messaging monitoring.
Total Visibility Adds Value from the Moment of Connection
appTap offers continuous, 100 percent visibility of network traffic and application—starting immediately, without complex, intrusive configuring or training. Your team can get up and running immediately for proactive management tasks, with an instant view of key performance indicators such as network volume, Top Talkers and network use by application. appTap also stores captured data for deferred analysis.
appTap provides deep visibility into application activity such as VOIP calls, Web 2.0 applications and instant messaging as well as detailed breakdown of layer, protocol, and application use, session statistics, data stream information, and identifying of underlying applications. A combination of tap ports and broad monitoring capabilities makes appTap the ideal solution for monitoring smaller networks and remote sites.

Gig Zero Delay™ Tap is the industry’s only 10/100/1000BaseT Tap with true zero-delay operation to prevent network disruptions for maximum network reliability. During a power outage, unique circuitry preserves the state of each network port ensuring the network link remains fully functional with zero packet loss; only monitor traffic becomes unavailable.
With the Gig Zero Delay Tap, power glitches and failures no longer mean dropped packets and lengthy renegotiation sequences. The network operates more smoothly and critical business applications remain responsive with the Gig Zero Delay Tap in as part of a monitoring infrastructure.
Zero Delay - A Net Optics Breakthrough
Placing the Gig Zero Delay Tap in highly sensitive network locations can improve monitoring performance via the innovative features of Net Optics Taps. If power is lost to other 10/100/1000 Taps, the connected devices can introduce delays as they detect the power loss and try to re-establish their link.
The Zero Delay engineering breakthrough ensures that any loss of power to the Tap is transparent to the network, and does not affect the flow of traffic through the Tap – eliminating packet delay and packet loss as potential security or performance issues.
Transparent Access
Gig Zero Delay Taps establish permanent passive access ports without introducing a point of failure or disturbing other network connections. The Taps either auto-negotiate communication or fixed speed and duplexing parameters as determined by DIP switch settings. These passive Taps deliver full-duplex monitoring with zero impact on network traffic around the clock.
Security and Visibility
Without an IP address, monitoring devices are isolated from the network, dramatically reducing their exposure to attacks. The monitoring device connected to the Tap sees all full-duplex traffic as if it were in-line, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors.
Simply Plug It In
Full-duplex monitoring is a snap when each side of the signal is sent to a separate NIC on the monitoring device. All network and monitoring cables necessary for plug-and-play deployment are included with the Tap.
Reliability
For extra uptime protection, Net Optics Gig Zero Delay Taps offer redundant power connections. Should the primary power source fail, the Tap automatically switches to the backup power source. Power LEDs on the front of the Tap indicate the current power source.
Doing Our Part
We are dedicated to ensuring user safety, and developing products that are increasingly environment friendly. All of our 10/100/1000 Taps adhere to UL and CE safety certifications: FCC, VCCI, and C-Tick EMC certifications; and RoHS and WEEE environmental certifications.

Net Optics GigaBit LC-based Fiber Taps are optimized and tested for optimal performance on 1Gbps fiber networks. Available in single-mode and multi-mode fiber, the GigaBit Tap supports passive monitoring, stealth operation, and
24x7 reliability.
All Optical Design
Requiring no power, the GibaBit LC Fiber Taps maintain permanent access ports for monitoring tools, without introducing a point of failure or interfering with network connections. The passive nature of the GigaBit Tap delivers full-duplex monitoring with 100 percent network traffic visibility, including layer 1 and 2 errors. The optical split ratio can be selected to match the monitoring requirements of your network.
Security and Visibility
Because the Tap does not require an IP address, both the Tap and attached monitoring tools are isolated from the network, dramatically reducing their exposure to attacks. The combination of stealth operation and traffic monitoring through the network takes secure visibility to a new level, ideal for achieving Data Security Compliance.
Simply Plug It In
Depending on your network environment, network and monitoring cable kits may be necessary for deployment. Net Optics´ Cable Kits give you all the cables you need to deploy a Net Optics LC Fiber Tap in an LC- or SC- connected environment. Custom monitoring cables are used to send each side of the network link to a separate NIC on the monitoring tool for full-duplex monitoring.
Cable Kits are sold separately.

Zero Delay™ - A Net Optics Breakthrough
Highly sensitive network locations can improve monitoring performance via the innovative features of Net Optics Taps. If power is lost to other 10/100 Taps, the connected devices may introduce delays as they detect the power loss and try to re-establish their link.
Net Optics’ engineering breakthrough ensures that any loss of power to the Tap is transparent to the network, and does not affect the flow of traffic through the Tap – eliminating packet delay and loss as potential security issues.
Security and Efficient
Without an IP address, monitoring devices are isolated from the network, dramatically reducing their exposure to attacks. However, the monitoring device connected to the Tap still sees 100% of full-duplex traffic as if it were in-line, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors.
Simply Plug It In
The Teeny Tap is a complete kit including all network and monitoring cables necessary for plug-and-play deployment. Use the handy lanyard and compact carrying case to take the Teeny Tap with you wherever you need temporary access to network traffic. The carrying case holds the Teeny Tap and one power supply and attaches to a belt or strap.
Reliability
For extra uptime protection, Net Optics 10/100BaseT Teeny Tap offers dual power supplies. Connect to a USB port or a standard AC outlet. Power LEDs on the front of the Tap indicate the current power source – even if power is lost and reapplied, there is always zero delay to network traffic. The 10/100BaseT Tap is compatible with Power-over-Ethernet (POE), passing current for POE devices on the link. While offering a host of unique features, Net Optics 10/100 Taps remain fully IEEE compliant.
